Before we kick off the wedding festivities in Punta Cana, we invite you to join us the Sunday prior in Delaware for the Vidhi and Sangeet.
Vidhi
The Gujarati Vidhi is a special pre-wedding ritual that brings family and friends together to celebrate with love, laughter, and meaningful tradition. During this ceremony, four “poojas” or prayers, are performed to honor heritage, invoke blessings, and set the tone for a joyful and prosperous marriage. Each ritual symbolizes purification, protection, and the sacred bond between the couple and their families.
This ceremony is a beautiful reflection of heritage, tradition, and the joyful anticipation of the days to come. We look forward to sharing this meaningful experience with our loved ones.
Sangeet
The Sangeet is a joyful pre-wedding celebration where family and friends gather to sing, dance, and revel in the excitement leading up to the big day. In the Gujarati culture, Garba is an eccentric dance celebrating the union of two families. It is typically performed in a circular pattern and characterized by a sweeping action from side to side.
We invite all our guests to bring their best Garba and Bollywood dance moves! Don’t worry if you’re new to Garba—we’ll have experienced dancers on hand to guide you through the steps so everyone can join in the fun!
This will be the start of our wedding events in Punta Cana. The Haldi ceremony is a close-knit event where the bride and groom's family and friends come together to apply turmeric (haldi) on the bride and groom's face and body. Haldi cleanses and purifies the mind, body, and soul. It is believed to leave the couple glowing—inside and out—for their wedding day. This ceremony signifies an auspicious start for the bride and groom, marking the beginning of a new life together.
Ours will take place right on the beach—so get ready to get messy and dive into the fun! Surrounded by sun, sand, and loved ones, we’ll share lots of laughter, splash on some haldi, and create golden memories together. Once we’re glowing and covered in haldi, we’ll end the celebration with a plunge into the ocean—washing off the turmeric and welcoming the wedding days ahead with a splash.
Mehndi (or Henna) symbolizes positive spirits and good luck. Hindu wedding tradition calls for a Mehndi ceremony to be held prior to the wedding as a way of wishing the bride good health and prosperity.
The bride's wedding mehndi will include a hidden inscription of the groom's name! It is believed that if the groom does not find his name within the intricate patterns, the bride will be more dominant in the marriage ;)
We will be having a mendhi artist at the resort during this time for guests to get their mehndi done prior to the start of our wedding events!
What to Wear
Kick off the wedding weekend with us on the beach for an evening of celebration, music, and mehndi!
Recommended outfits: Western beach formal – think dressy yet comfortable. Flowy dresses, jumpsuits, dress shirts, and nice pants are perfect. Bring your festive spirit (and maybe skip the heels)!
There are no color restrictions for this event!
The Baarat refers to the groom and a party of people consisting of his friends and family who accompany him to the bride's "house." The sister of the groom waves a pouch of coins over the head of the groom to keep away any bad luck or "evil eye." Get ready as there will be lots of music and dancing involved.
As Vishal arrives at the Mandap, Denise's family and friends welcome him and the rest of the Baraat with a lot of grandeur.
The Baarat will take place from 9-10am. The wedding ceremony will take place immediately after.
Our Wedding ceremony will include Vishal's Hindu traditions that consist of several important rituals. The wedding ceremony is performed beneath a decorated wedding altar called the "Mandap" which is represented by four pillars denoting our Parents.
The wedding ceremony will take place from 10am-12pm. Lunch will be provided after the wedding ceremony.
What to Wear
The baarat is immediately followed by the Wedding Ceremony which will be an outdoor event (weather permitting) at the Water Canal.
This section contains "recommended outfits." Wearing Indian/Traditional is optional and we do not want to restrict you. Feel free to text Denise or Vishal if you need any help with finding Indian outfits and/or have questions regarding dress code for the wedding.

Following the Hindu wedding ceremony, please join us for a celebratory lunch in the Ballroom with family and friends as we continue the festivities.
This midday meal marks the close of our second day of wedding events—an opportunity to unwind, share stories, and savor the joy of the morning’s traditions.
After lunch, feel free to enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure—whether that means relaxing by the pool, soaking up the sun, or exploring the resort—before we come together again for more celebrations the following day!
Our Catholic wedding ceremony will be a sacred celebration of love, unity, and lifelong commitment—rooted in tradition and reflecting Denise’s faith and values.
During the ceremony, there will be readings from scripture, the exchange of vows and rings, and a blessing over the couple as they begin their life together in marriage. It is a meaningful time to reflect, give thanks, and celebrate the spiritual bond of matrimony.
We encourage everyone to arrive on time and take in the peaceful setting before the celebration continues!
